The Role
Swim Max is looking for an experienced Team Leader to run day-to-day operations across our venues, above Supervisor level. This is duty manager level responsibility, you'll be the person in charge when the owners aren't on site, managing staff, sales and customer care with full ownership and minimal need for direction. This is a performance-driven role for someone who takes responsibility and delivers, not someone looking to be managed themselves.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Full Operational Ownership: Run the venue independently in the owners' absence, making real-time decisions on staffing, safety and service standards.
- Sales & Target Delivery: Own sales targets across lessons, renewals and add-on services; identify and act on shortfalls before they become a problem.
- Staff Leadership: Manage instructors, reception and customer care staff, handling performance issues directly and promptly.
- Customer Excellence: Resolve high-level complaints and escalations professionally, face to face.
- Accountability: Close the loop on every task and every shift, no follow-up required from ownership.
- Training: Onboard and develop new hires to Swim Max standards.
Requirements
- Proven Experience: Previous experience managing or leading a team in a sales, leisure or customer-facing environment is essential.
- Proven Sales Track Record: Demonstrated experience hitting or exceeding sales/performance targets.
- Autonomy: Able to make sound decisions independently and only escalate what genuinely needs escalating.
- Communication: Fluent in English, high clarity in verbal and written tasks.
- Hands-on Approach: Visible and operational, not desk-based.
- Resilience: Calm, practical and solution-focused under pressure.
- Availability: Must be available for 8:00 AM starts, evenings and weekend shifts across venues.
- Proximity for Cover: Must be able to reliably attend site at short notice to cover shifts, including early starts. Own transport essential.
- Work Authorisation: Legally entitled to work in Ireland.
Why Join Us
- Structured Pay Progression, Tied to Objective Targets — This Is a Results Role:
- Phase 1 (Probation, Weeks 1–6): €15.00 per hour. Objectives hit in new/renewed sales per week across lessons, renewals and add-ons; resolve every staff and customer issue within the same shift, no carry-over, no escalation to ownership; run assigned shifts fully independently. Miss any of these consistently and you don't move to Phase 2, continued employment is assessed at the Week 6 review.
- Phase 2 (Integration, Weeks 7–12): €17.00 per hour, on meeting every Phase 1 objective. Objectives hit in sales per week, at or above Phase 1 level, with no drop-off; onboard and bring new hires to full standard within agreed timeframes; zero repeat complaints on the same issue; full, unsupervised ownership of rostering and shift cover. Miss these and you don't move to Phase 3.
- Phase 3 (Confirmed): €18.00 per hour, only once every Phase 1 and Phase 2 target has been hit and sustained, not just attempted.
- Specific sales, service and operational targets for each phase are agreed and confirmed in writing before any job offer is made, so you know exactly what's expected from day one. These targets are realistic and fully attainable for someone with the experience this role requires, they're designed to identify strong performers, not to catch people out.
- Objective, Target-Based Progression: Every pay increase is tied to a specific, measurable result agreed at the start of each phase, not to time served.
- Real Autonomy: A leadership role where you run the show, not one where you're checking in every five minutes.
- Impactful Role: Full ownership of the venue in the owners' absence.
- Supportive Culture: Backed by a structured, professional and expanding organisation.
