Job Purpose
The Snagging Operative is responsible for inspecting construction works to identify defects, incomplete works, poor workmanship, and items requiring rectification prior to project completion and handover.
The successful candidate will work closely with Site Managers, subcontractors, trades, and the wider construction team to ensure that completed works meet the required quality standards, project specifications, and company expectations.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out detailed inspections of residential and/or commercial construction projects.

Identify and record construction defects, incomplete works, and items requiring attention.

Complete snagging lists accurately and provide clear descriptions of outstanding works.

Inspect finishes including plastering, painting, tiling, flooring, carpentry, doors, windows, kitchens, bathrooms, and other building elements.

Check workmanship against drawings, specifications, company standards, and agreed quality requirements.

Take photographs and maintain accurate records of identified snags.

Liaise with Site Managers and relevant trades/subcontractors regarding required remedial works.

Re-inspect completed snags and confirm that defects have been properly rectified.

Assist with pre-handover inspections and final quality-control checks.

Monitor progress of outstanding snagging items and report any recurring or significant issues.

Maintain a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail at all times.

Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and site rules.

Carry out any other reasonable duties required by the Site Manager or Contracts Manager.
Requirements
-
Previous experience in construction, snagging, quality control, or a relevant trade.

Good knowledge of general construction practices and building finishes.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify defects and poor workmanship.

Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.

Good communication and organisational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team.

Good IT skills, including the ability to use a smartphone/tablet for photographs, reports, and snagging software.

Full clean driving licence is desirable.

Safe Pass and relevant construction training are desirable.

Working Conditions
This is a site-based position involving regular movement around active construction sites. The successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions and must comply with all site-specific Health & Safety requirements and PPE requirements.
