Job Title: Senior Healthcare Assistant
Location: St Joseph's Nursing Home, Ballymacprior, Killorglin, Co. Kerry V93 TD99
Report to: Director of Nursing
Job Purpose: To enhance the quality of life of each resident by providing individualised holistic care. To promote independence, and be able to communicate effectively with the resident and with the multidisciplinary team.
Job Terms: Full-time temporary position covering sick leave. Must be available Monday - Sunday, 8:00am to 8:00pm.
Main responsibilities:
Orientation including the supervision of 3-day induction of new staff.
Ongoing support and training of Health Care Assistants on resident care needs
Attendance at relevant training programmes and feeding back information to the Health Care Team.
Attendance at Nazareth House internal meetings or any meetings as requested.
Overseeing of relevant assessments as delegated by the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Feedback to the Clinical Nurse Manager in relation to staff support/training needs.
Maintaining relevant documents - e.g. monthly weights, flow charts, continence assessments and any other as directed by the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Allocation of Health Care Assistants considering the needs of the residents and the skills mix and experience of staff.
Ensure all Health Care Assistants follow local policies such as Uniform Policy, Mobile Phone Policy, Rest Break Times Etc.
Good work ethic and attention to detail are essential for this role.
Oversee the management of the floor in relation to all Health Care Assistants' tasks, e.g. allocation of HCAs, management of stores, and awareness of Health and Safety at all times.
Skills and Qualifications:
QQI Level 5 Award - Healthcare or equivalent
Excellent track record as a high performing Healthcare worker
Elder care experience. (1 years + experience)
Ability to motivate, supervise and inspire colleagues
Excellent communication skills
Excellent personal care abilities
