Mr Binman is an Irish waste recycling company serving over 45,000 residential and 4,500 commercial customers in Ireland. We provide numerous services, including residential bin collection, commercial bin collection and skip rental. The company takes pride in providing customers with a service that is dependable, efficient, and environmentally conscious.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Plant Fitter / Welder to join our busy recycling and waste management operation.
This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining, repairing, and refurbishing fixed recycling plant and mobile machinery. You will help keep our operations running safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, service, and repair fixed recycling plant equipment, including conveyors, trommels, shredders, and associated machinery.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to reduce downtime.
- Service and repair mobile plant, including JCB loading shovel, telehandlers, Liebherr excavators, and forklifts.
- Carry out welding and fabrication repairs on skips,plant equipment, and collection trucks.
- Refurbish skips and recycling equipment to a high standard.
- Complete preventative maintenance inspections and planned maintenance schedules.
- Support with breakdowns and emergency repairs as required.
- Work safely and in line with company health and safety procedures.
- Keep the workshop and work areas clean, organised, and well maintained.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer, or in a similar role.
- Strong welding and fabrication skills, including MIG welding and general steel fabrication.
- Experience in recycling, quarrying, construction, or heavy plant sectors is highly desirable.
- Good knowledge of hydraulics, bearings, conveyors, gearboxes, engines, and heavy machinery.
- Ability to diagnose faults and work independently to resolve issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
- Full driving licence preferred.
