Engineering & Major Projects (EMP) is responsible for the efficient delivery of major projects and engineering solutions required by ESB and its customers to lead the transition to reliable, affordable, low carbon energy at home and internationally.
As an Engineering Technician, you will lead the production of high‑quality drawings and graphical information supporting renewable and flexible generation projects across their full lifecycle.
Aligned with ESB’s strategic objectives - decarbonising electricity, building resilient infrastructure, and empowering customers - you will play a key role in delivering critical generation infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Prepare 2D & 3D drawings, maps and documentation to a high standard in coordination with team members and stakeholders across multiple departments.
Provide inputs to designs by identifying required changes and improvements and making recommendations to design engineers and project teams.
Develop site layout drawings based on survey data.
Produce drawings for each project stage including planning applications, for tender issue, for construction issue, and "as built".
Coordinate with the project team including engineers, architects, quantity surveyors and project managers to ensure drawings meet project requirements.
Apply expertise in engineering drafting tools such as AutoCAD (and related platforms).
Prepare reinforced concrete, structural steel general arrangement drawings and rebar bending schedules.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
Level 7 qualification in Civil Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or relevant experience.
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant post-qualification experience.
Strong proficiency in one or more of: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Cads RC for RC detailing and scheduling, or Revit.
Experience producing work in compliance with company QA/QC procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to collaborate and share knowledge within a team environment.
Organised, adaptable with flexible approach to work.
Desirable
Experience of energy infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in an additional relevant software package.
Full driving license and access to a car.
Strong prioritisation and organisational skills.
Experience working with and interrogating point cloud data.
Location
This position will be based in EMP offices located at the Sidings, Dublin 2, or at Eastgate, Cork.
Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week . All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

Salary
€41,000 - €48,000 per annum
