Asset Management plays a crucial role at Dublin Airport, focusing on operating and maintaining the airport’s assets. The team is now recruiting a Utilities Engineering Technician to support technical asset management for the key water utilities across the airport campus.
The Airport Utilities Engineering Technician will play a critical role in managing and maintaining the airport’s water infrastructure, including a reservoir, distribution network, and associated assets. This role ensures operational continuity, compliance with regulatory standards, and supports sustainability objectives. A key responsibility is stakeholder engagement, particularly with Uisce Éireann, to align on water quality, supply resilience, and infrastructure upgrades.
The role reports to the Asset Management Utilities Technical Support Engineer with responsibility for providing planned and reactive maintenance for assigned engineering systems and equipment across the water utilities, ensuring key performance indicators are met.
- At least 6 years’ overall experience in a technical role with demonstrable experience on specialist systems.
- Relevant technical qualification (National Craft Certificate/Standards Based Apprenticeship) in plumbing
- Previous experience working on a high pressure watermains network – including pipework and associated fittings – sluice valves, hydrants, air vents.
- Previous experience working on various pipework materials such as cast iron, asbestos and polyethylene(fusion welded) pipework
- Understanding of potable water treatment including chlorine & UV.
- Experience in the setting up of DMAs and installation of water meters (including MAG and impeller types)
- Strong health and safety focus, with chemical awareness
- Proven ability to lead and communicate effectively in operational environments.
- Strong operational awareness with the ability to analyse, evaluate, and prioritise situations.
Technical Competence
- Strong understanding of water distribution systems, SCADA monitoring, and asset lifecycle management.
- Practical, logical aptitude for electrical and mechanical systems maintenance.
- Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting capability.
- Experience with industrial automated control systems (PLCs, variable speed drives, SCADA, network comms, motor control).
- Broad technical understanding of asset types at Dublin Airport.
Systems & Tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
- Ability to interpret operational data and apply analytical problem-solving.
