Strength & Conditioning Coach
MD Performance & Therapy is a multidisciplinary service based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, offering strength & conditioning, personal training and physiotherapy services to athletes and the general population of all ages.
We are seeking a suitably qualified Strength & Conditioning Coach to join our team, particularly for weekends and evenings. The ideal candidate will be passionate, ambitious and eager to develop as a practitioner. Part-time positions are available, depending on experience, availability and service requirements, with flexibility offered to the right candidate. For the right candidate, there is scope for the role to grow in hours, responsibility and remit, based on performance and interest.
Key Responsibilities
Strength & Conditioning
- Design, implement and monitor training programmes for youth and adult teams across a range of sports, including Gaelic football, soccer, hurling, swimming and boxing.
- Lead the planning and delivery of our private MDPT Youth Strength & Conditioning Programme (11–17 years).
- Plan and deliver Strength & Conditioning sessions for sports teams in team environments
Personal Training
- Deliver individualised 1-1 and semi-private personal training programmes for general population and performance-focused clients.
- Apply strength & conditioning principles to support health, rehabilitation-adjacent and performance goals across a diverse client base.
Administration
- Maintain accurate session records, client data and performance monitoring logs.
- Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of services through effective communication and administrative tasks.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant qualifications in Strength & Conditioning, Sports Science or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the theoretical principles of training and athletic development.
- Minimum availability of 2 evening and/or weekend shifts per week.
- AED/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain upon appointment.
- Full driving licence and ability to travel for work.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous coaching experience in an adult team sports environment.
- Previous coaching experience with youths aged 11–17.
- Familiarity with performance monitoring technology, including timing gates and jump measurement devices.
- Master's degree in Strength & Conditioning, Sports Science or related field.
- Professional accreditation, or active pursuit of accreditation (e.g. CSCS, UKSCA, ASCA).
