The Abbey Restaurant is looking for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our talented kitchen team.
Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in the day to day running of the kitchen, helping to deliver exceptional food, lead the team and maintain the highest standards of quality, consistency and service.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in the day to day management of the kitchen.
- Lead and motivate the kitchen team, ensuring a positive and professional working environment.
- Prepare, cook and present dishes to the highest standards of quality and consistency.
- Oversee kitchen operations in the Head Chef's absence.
- Assist with menu planning, seasonal specials and recipe development.
- Ensure food quality, presentation and portion control standards are consistently maintained.
- Train, mentor and support junior chefs, encouraging their development.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering and ensure effective stock rotation.
- Help minimise food waste while maintaining excellent food quality.
- Ensure full compliance with HACCP, food safety and health and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen at all times.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or an experienced Chef de Partie ready to step into a leadership role.
- A genuine passion for fresh, high quality food.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to remain calm and organised in a busy service environment.
- A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
- A strong knowledge of HACCP and food safety procedures.
- A positive attitude and a commitment to supporting and developing the wider kitchen team.
