Cox’s Steakhouse is currently recruiting experienced food and beverage staff to join our busy hospitality team in Dromod.
We are looking for capable, professional and customer-focused people with solid experience across bar service, table service and functions/events. Applicants should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining consistently high standards of service, presentation and customer care.
The position will involve a mixture of bar, restaurant and function duties, and applicants should therefore have practical experience across the principal areas of food and beverage service.
Key responsibilities
Duties will include:
- Providing friendly, efficient and professional customer service at all times
- Taking customer orders accurately and providing knowledgeable food and beverage service
- Serving food and drinks to tables to a consistently high standard
- Preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
- Tending bar during both normal service and busy periods
- Operating tills and handling cash and electronic payments accurately
- Setting up, serving and clearing restaurant tables
- Assisting with the preparation and service of private functions, parties and other events
- Setting up function rooms and service areas to the required standard
- Maintaining a high standard of presentation throughout the bar, restaurant and function areas
- Clearing and resetting tables promptly during service
- Working closely with kitchen, bar and floor staff to ensure an efficient service
- Responding professionally to customer enquiries and reasonable requests
- Maintaining appropriate stock levels and assisting with restocking bar and service areas
- Following responsible alcohol service procedures and all applicable licensing requirements
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and food safety
- Following HACCP, health and safety and other workplace procedures
- Carrying out opening, closing and cleaning duties as required
- Performing other reasonable duties associated with the food and beverage operation
Essential requirements
Applicants should have:
- A minimum of two years’ relevant experience in a busy, high-paced food and beverage environment
- Demonstrable experience tending bar
- Demonstrable experience waiting tables and providing restaurant service
- Experience serving functions or events to a high standard
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- The ability to remain organised and professional during busy service periods
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A high standard of personal presentation and professionalism
- Good attention to detail
- Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic
- The ability to follow instructions while also using initiative when appropriate
- Flexibility regarding working hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays where required
- The legal entitlement to work in Ireland
Desirable experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Previous experience in a busy restaurant, gastropub, hotel or comparable hospitality business
- Experience with high-volume bar and restaurant service
- Experience with private parties or other functions
- Knowledge of wines, spirits, beers and common cocktails
- Experience using electronic point-of-sale/till systems
- Relevant food safety, manual handling or responsible service training

Hours and availability
The hospitality industry necessarily involves variable working hours. Successful applicants should be available to work a roster which may include daytime, evening, weekend and public holiday shifts.
Exact working hours, employment status and roster arrangements will be discussed with successful candidates and confirmed as part of the terms of employment.
Pay and other conditions will comply with applicable statutory employment requirements and will be determined based on previous relevant experience.
