West Cork Distillers was founded in 2003 by John O'Connell, Denis McCarthy and Ger McCarthy and has since grown to a team of over 250 people based in our distillery in Skibbereen, Co. Cork and our Waterford site Donohoe Drinks. We are built on an entrepreneurial energy and a passion for the science and art of spirit and whiskey production.

We are currently looking for a Trainee Accountant to join our Finance Team at West Cork Distillers.
As a Trainee Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the Finance Department This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop a career in accounting within a growing manufacturing business. You will gain hands on experience across a broad range of finance functions while working towards a professional accounting qualification.
What You'll Do...

Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports

Processing purchase invoices, supplier reconciliations and payment runs

Supporting sales invoicing, customer account reconciliations and credit control activities

Assisting with bank reconciliations and daily cash management
-
Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring all documentation is filed and updated correctly

Assisting with VAT returns, audit preparation and compliance reporting requirements.

Working closely with other departments to ensure accurate financial information is maintained across the business
-
Supporting the Finance Team with budgeting, forecasting and cost analysis activities
-
Ensuring all financial procedures and internal controls are adhered to at all times
-
Taking personal responsibility for maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive financial information appropriately
-
Identifying opportunities for process improvements and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance Department
-
Flexibility may be required to undertake additional/other duties on occasion, based on business needs and requirements
What You'll Have..
-
A degree or third-level qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline
-
Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
-
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
-
Excellent organisational and time management skills
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team
-
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
-
Previous finance or administration experience is desirable but not essential
-
An interest in pursuing a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA
