Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Business Analyst to support the financial and commercial performance of our business across Ireland.
This is a highly visible role that combines financial analysis, commercial insight, business process improvement and business intelligence. The successful candidate will partner with Finance, Sales, Manufacturing and Operational teams to transform data into actionable insights that improve profitability, enhance operational performance and support strategic decision-making.
The Business Analyst will also identify opportunities to improve business processes, automate reporting and support continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.
Reporting to the Managing Director (with close collaboration across Sales, Operations and Senior Leadership)
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and timely financial, commercial and operational reports, dashboards and KPIs.
- Analyse revenue, gross margin, operating costs and profitability by product, customer, sales region and business unit.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
- Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior-year performance.
- Identify trends, risks and opportunities, providing practical recommendations to improve business performance.
- Develop financial models and business cases to support investment and strategic decision-making.
- Monitor and analyse sales performance across Johnsons Ireland.
- Evaluate customer profitability, pricing, product mix and market trends.
- Develop dashboards and reports that enable the sales team to monitor performance against targets.
- Support pricing strategy through detailed margin and profitability analysis.
- Identify opportunities for revenue growth and improved commercial performance.
- Partner with Customer Support Team and Sales Account Managers to improve forecasting accuracy and commercial decision-making.
- Build strong working relationships across Finance, Sales, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Operations.
- Facilitate meetings and workshops to gather business requirements and understand operational challenges.
- Translate business needs into practical reporting and analytical solutions.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate findings in a clear, concise and professional manner.
- Support strategic projects and cross-functional initiatives through robust analysis and commercial insight.
- Extract, validate and analyse data from ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and other business systems.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency and accuracy across all reporting.
- Continuously improve reporting processes, reducing manual reporting and increasing automation.
- Translate complex business data into clear and meaningful insights for management.
- Evaluate existing business processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and profitability.
- Map and document current and future-state business processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify process inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives through data analysis and performance measurement.
Skills & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a Business Analyst, Financial Analyst, Commercial Analyst or Business Intelligence role.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment desirable.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience developing dashboards using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
- Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics desirable or similar).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-support skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated experience of analysing business processes and recommending improvements.
- Commercially minded with a strong understanding of business performance drivers.
- A passion for using data to solve business problems.
- Highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail.
- Confidence in challenging existing processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
