BSS are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a leading Irish Civil Engineering Contractor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation delivering major infrastructure, utilities, roadworks, and public sector projects throughout Ireland.
The successful candidate will provide commercial leadership across multiple projects, ensuring robust cost control, accurate reporting, effective contract administration, and strong client and subcontractor management. The role will involve close collaboration with operational teams, senior management, and client representatives to maximise commercial performance and project profitability.
Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial aspects of civil engineering projects from commencement through to final account.
- Prepare and maintain accurate cost reports, forecasts, cashflow projections, and monthly CVRs.
- Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to improve commercial performance.
- Negotiate and agree variations, claims, and additional works with clients.
- Procure and manage subcontractors, including contract negotiations and account administration.
- Prepare interim valuations, payment applications, and final accounts.
- Ensure compliance with contract conditions and company commercial procedures.
- Support project teams in managing commercial risks and opportunities.
- Liaise with local authorities, public bodies, consultants, and client representatives.
- Mentor and support Quantity Surveyors and junior commercial staff.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of commercial processes and reporting systems.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7+ years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and current construction law.
- Proven experience managing subcontract procurement, commercial reporting, valuations, and final accounts.
- Experience working with County Councils, Local Authorities, or public sector clients desirable.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and forecasting capabilities.
- Ability to work independently while leading and developing junior team members.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full driving licence.
