Health & Safety Advisor – County Waterford (Full-Time / Permanent)
Overview
A leading construction company is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to support health, safety and compliance activities across multiple construction projects throughout the County Waterford.
This role will work closely with site management and project teams to promote a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and support the continuous improvement of health and safety standards across active construction sites. It offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their career within construction health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular site inspections and safety audits across active construction projects
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, company procedures and industry best practice
- Assist with the preparation, review and implementation of risk assessments and method statements
- Support site teams with health & safety guidance and practical advice on day-to-day activities
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and safety awareness initiatives
- Record, investigate and report accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying corrective and preventative actions
- Maintain accurate health & safety records, audit findings and compliance documentation
- Prepare reports and provide updates to senior management on safety performance and site compliance
- Monitor PPE compliance and ensure appropriate safety equipment is available and used correctly
- Support subcontractors and site personnel in maintaining safe systems of work
- Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement, communication and ongoing awareness initiatives
- Assist with continuous improvement programmes aimed at strengthening site safety performance
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Health & Safety
- Previous experience within a construction environment or health & safety-related role
- Good understanding of construction activities, site hazards and relevant safety legislation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with site teams and subcontractors
- Ability to investigate incidents and identify practical corrective actions
- Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a wider project team
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel between project locations as required
- Genuine interest in developing a long-term career within construction health & safety
