Overview:
You will direct and manage the full project lifecycle, setting standards for assignments and applications. This role is focused on delivery within a public sector client environment, requiring a strong understanding of governance, compliance, and stakeholder expectations within that context.
You will be responsible for the successful delivery of defined work packages to the client, providing effective leadership to project teams, and offering guidance to key business users. A critical aspect of this role is the ability to engage, influence, and manage a broad range of stakeholders, including senior and challenging stakeholders, in a complex delivery environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop project strategies and direct teams, ensuring that deliverables are completed within agreed cost, timescale, and resource budgets, and are formally signed off.

Take full accountability for the definition, approach, facilitation, and successful completion of medium-scale projects within a public sector setting, often with diverse scope and regulatory considerations.

Facilitate scoping and business priority setting for complex changes, engaging and influencing senior and sometimes difficult stakeholders to achieve alignment and progress.

Manage stakeholders effectively across all levels, demonstrating the ability to navigate competing priorities, resolve conflict, and build trusted relationships in challenging environments.

Ensure compliance with public sector governance, reporting structures, and procurement processes where applicable.

Track resources and ensure deliverables are met; negotiate effectively for key resources and select appropriate team members.

Understand client requirements in detail, fully addressing needs by identifying, evaluating, and recommending solutions, and establishing a solid baseline for delivery.

Demonstrate the use of structured, iterative methodologies; manage scope changes, communicate impacts clearly, and secure approvals as required.

Maintain realistic project plans and ensure regular, accurate, and transparent communication to all stakeholders.

Develop project plans using standard tools (e.g., MS Project, Project Workbench).

Use metrics and reporting to assess project success and make necessary adjustments.

Identify, quantify, and proactively manage risks and issues impacting delivery, particularly within complex stakeholder landscapes.

Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and improve best practices.

Meet on-time and on-budget project goals and contribute to planning future resource needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Additional certification in Business Consulting

Certified functional consultant in a specific domain

Project Management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) – particularly valuable in public sector contexts

Experience:
- Proven experience delivering projects within the public sector (essential), with a strong understanding of governance, compliance, and reporting frameworks.

Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Experience managing full project lifecycle delivery across multiple workstreams.
