We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Animal Parasitology Laboratory Apprentice to support daily laboratory operations . This position is a 2 year Level 6 apprenticeship, with possibilities to move on an extra year to graduate to a Level 7 Degree.
It involves receiving and processing animal samples, preparing materials for testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and accurately recording test results.
The ideal candidate will be organized, able to follow established procedures, and comfortable working in a laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- Receive, label, log, and organize incoming animal samples.
- Prepare and mix samples according to laboratory protocols.
- Assist laboratory personnel with parasitology testing procedures and diagnostic methods.
- Accurately record sample information, test data, and results in laboratory records and databases.
- Clean, and maintain laboratory equipment, workstations, and supplies.
- Prepare testing materials, reagents, and laboratory consumables as needed.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures and quality control standards.
- Assist with inventory management of kits and restocking of laboratory supplies.
- Maintain organized and accurate documentation of laboratory activities.
- Perform other laboratory support duties as assigned
Aplplicants must be comfortable working with animal-derived samples and laboratory chemicals while following safety procedures.
Hours -
2 days college (TBC by TUS Athlone)
3 days in lab 9am-5pm
