Job Overview
We are currently seeking a compassionate and reliable Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our team in Bramleigh Lodge Nursing Home Cahir. This position is for a Specific Purpose Contract for one-to-one care for a Resident on a 24-hour basis.
Hours of Work Weekly: 24 – 48 hours
Working hours (shift pattern): 8pm-8am, 8am-8pm. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, person-centred care to residents, supporting their physical, emotional, and social needs while maintaining dignity, privacy, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a high standard of person-centred care appropriate to the needs, wishes and requirements of the Resident.
- Support and assist the Resident to fulfil their activities of daily living while ensuring that they are encouraged to be as independent as possible.
- Promote, encourage and practice the ethos of person-centred care.
- Assist the Resident to maintain their personal hygiene and appearance, to include cleanliness and personal grooming and dressing.
- Maintain accurate records as deemed necessary and for accountability purposes
- Assist residents with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
- Support mobility and safe transfers using appropriate equipment
- Assist with feeding and hydration where required
- Support residents with activities of daily living
- Maintain accurate care records in line with HIQA standards
- Promote a safe, clean, and comfortable environment
- Work collaboratively with nurses and multidisciplinary team members
- Adhere to infection prevention and control policies
- Respect confidentiality and safeguarding policies at all times
Essential Requirements
- QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (or working towards completion)
- Previous experience in a healthcare or nursing home setting desirable
- Good level of written and spoken English
- Eligibility to work in Ireland
- Up-to-date training (Patient Moving & Handling, Infection Control, Safeguarding – desirable)
