About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established business based in Cork City, for an experienced and reliable Bookkeeper. This is a hands-on role with full responsibility for the day-to-day financial records of the business. The successful candidate will work closely with management and liaise with the company's external accountant, so the ability to work independently and communicate clearly is essential.
Our client is flexible on hours and working pattern — whether you are looking for a part-time arrangement, full-time hours, or a flexi-time schedule, they are happy to discuss what works for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate day-to-day bookkeeping records using accounting software
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with Revenue requirements
- Process payroll
- Prepare management accounts support and financial summaries for management review
- Liaise with the external accountant at year end and provide supporting documentation as required
- Maintain organised and up-to-date financial records at all times
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2–3 years of bookkeeping experience in a similar role
- Proficient in at least one accounting software package (BrightBooks, Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of Irish VAT rules and Revenue Online Service (ROS)
- Accounting Technician qualification (ATI or equivalent) preferred but not essential where experience is strong
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage own workload, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines without close supervision
- Discreet, professional and trustworthy — comfortable handling confidential financial information
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
What's on Offer
- €20 – €26 per hour, depending on experience
- Genuine flexibility — part-time, full-time or flexi-time arrangement available
- Convenient Cork City location
- Supportive, small-team environment
- Statutory sick pay
- Auto-enrolment pension (MyFutureFund)
- Scope to grow with the business
