The Role
As a Healthcare Assistant (HCA), you will promote a caring, safe, and dignified environment and support residents’ physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person‑centred assistance with activities of daily living: personal care, hygiene, dressing, mobility, eating and drinking, and comfort.
- Support residents to maintain independence, choice, privacy, and dignity at all times.
- Observe, record, and report changes in residents’ condition; maintain accurate, timely care records.
- Assist with nutritional support, hydration, and mealtime routines.
- Engage residents in meaningful activities and companionship.
- Follow care plans, infection prevention and control, and health and safety procedures.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with the nursing team to deliver safe, high‑quality care.
Requirements
- QQI Level 5 (or equivalent) in Healthcare Support — major award or at least key care modules (preferred complete award).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability, compassion, and a resident‑first mindset.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
Desirable
- 1+ year’s experience as a HCA in a nursing home or similar care setting.
- Up‑to‑date training (e.g., Patient Moving & Handling, Safeguarding, Infection Prevention & Control, CPR/First Aid).
Shifts and Roster
- Day and Night shifts available; 8–12 hour patterns depending on roster needs.
- Weekend and public holiday rotation as required.
