The Timber Frame Design Office Manager will lead and coordinate the Timber Frame design function, ensuring design outputs are accurate, timely and aligned with production requirements. This role combines strong technical timber frame design knowledge with people management, workload planning, stakeholder communication and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day workload allocation across the Timber Frame design team.

Lead, support and develop designers through clear communication, coaching and regular feedback.

Review and support technical design outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency and production readiness.

Act as a point of escalation for technical queries, design priorities and production-related issues.

Promote adherence to agreed design processes, file management standards and quality expectations.

Collaborate with production, operations and project stakeholders to support efficient delivery.

Identify opportunities to improve workflow, standardisation and communication between design and production teams.

Support cross-training and capability building where the team is developing LGS knowledge or related design capability.
Requirements

Minimum five years’ experience as a designer, ideally within a Timber Frame design office.

Current or recent people management or team lead experience, ideally for at least two years.

Strong technical knowledge of timber frame design, production requirements and drawing standards.

Ability to manage team workload, priorities and deadlines in a manufacturing-led environment.

Strong communication skills, including the ability to provide clear direction and constructive feedback.

Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Experience using SharePoint or similar document management systems.

Relevant technical qualification is desirable; practical design and leadership experience is essential.
