Are you passionate about building systems that prevent outages before they happen — at Amazon scale? We're looking for a Software Development Engineer to help build the next generation of resilience and change safety tooling protecting thousands of services across Amazon's Stores businesses.
You'll work at the intersection of AI, data engineering, and software resilience — building autonomous agents that evaluate the safety of software changes, platforms that surface resilience risks proactively, and data infrastructure that powers reliability decisions across the organisation. The systems you build will directly prevent customer-impacting incidents at massive scale
Key job responsibilities
- Develop event-driven data pipelines that ingest, validate, and enrich change events — enabling real-time risk assessment and incident correlation across thousands of services
- Build and extend our application discovery and metadata platform — auto-discovering services, their dependencies, health indicators, and resilience posture
- Drive our AI-powered change safety programme — autonomous agents that evaluate configuration and code changes and provide real-time risk judgements before changes reach customers
- Integrate diverse data sources (service graphs, business context, deployment metadata) into an intelligence layer consumed by both human operators and AI systems
- Operate production services with high availability standards, participate in on-call rotation, and drive operational excellence
- Collaborate with teams across Amazon to define and deliver resilience standards for internal teams
About the team
We're a Dublin-headquartered team of engineers who believe that the best incident is the one that never happens. We sit within Amazon's Central Reliability and Response Engineering (CRRE) organisation, responsible for availability and resilience across Amazon's consumer businesses.
We're a supportive team that values ownership, curiosity, and a bias for action. We celebrate shipping, learn openly from failures, and invest in each other's growth.
- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
