Delta Centre is seeking dedicated and compassionate Care Assistants to support adults with intellectual disabilities in achieving their full potential. This role is particularly suited to candidates who have significant experience supporting individuals who present with behaviours of concern and who are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting learners to live fulfilling lives, promoting independence, dignity, inclusion, and positive outcomes through consistent and proactive support.
A core requirement of this role is the ability to effectively support individuals who may present with challenging behaviours. Successful candidates will:

Have proven experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour in a disability, social care, healthcare, educational, or community setting.

Implement Behaviour Support Plans consistently and effectively.

Recognise behavioural triggers and early warning signs and respond appropriately using positive behaviour support approaches.

Remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations.

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to promote positive outcomes and reduce restrictive practices.

Support learners to develop coping skills, communication strategies, and greater independence.

Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing assessments and reviews of support plans.

Ensure all learners are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

Support learners to make choices and actively participate in their communities.

Promote independence, communication, personal development, and social inclusion.

Review and implement individual Care Plans, Person-Centred Plans, and all relevant care protocols.

Develop positive, trusting relationships with learners through consistency and understanding.

Support learners to identify personal goals, aspirations, and support needs.

Encourage participation in educational, social, recreational, and community activities.

Respect and uphold the rights, individuality, and preferences of each learner.

Adhere to Delta Centre's policies, procedures, and values.

Comply with HIQA standards, HSE policies, safeguarding requirements, and all relevant legislation.

Maintain professional standards and contribute positively to the service team.

QQI/FETAC Level 5 qualification in Healthcare, Social Care, Community Care, or a related discipline.

Demonstrable experience supporting individuals who present with challenging behaviours.

Strong understanding of person-centred practice and positive behaviour support.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities.
-
Training in Positive Behaviour Support, Autism, MAPA, CPI, or similar interventions.

Knowledge of HIQA standards and safeguarding practices.
