We are seeking a reliable, professional, and customer-focused Recovery Truck Driver to join our team serving the Connacht region. The successful candidate will provide roadside assistance, vehicle recovery, and transportation services for customers experiencing vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or other roadside incidents.
This role requires safe driving practices, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to vehicle recovery and roadside assistance call-outs throughout the Connacht region.
- Recover and transport broken-down, damaged, or accident-involved vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Operate recovery vehicles and equipment in accordance with company procedures and road traffic regulations.
- Carry out basic roadside assistance where appropriate, including battery jump-starts, wheel changes, and vehicle lockout support.
- Complete vehicle inspections before and after each shift.
- Maintain accurate records of recoveries, deliveries, mileage, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with customers, dispatch personnel, emergency services, and insurance representatives when required.
- Ensure all vehicles and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe, and roadworthy condition.
- Adhere to health and safety policies and industry regulations at all times.
- Participate in an on-call rota, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
Essential Requirements
- Full clean Category C driving licence (or equivalent applicable licence).
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous experience operating recovery trucks, tow trucks, or commercial vehicles.
- Good knowledge of the Connacht road network.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including emergency call-outs.
- Strong commitment to safety and professionalism.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in vehicle recovery, roadside assistance, or transport logistics.
- Mechanical knowledge and ability to perform basic roadside repairs.
- Experience dealing with insurance and breakdown assistance providers.
