Tom Smyth & Associates is an expanding HR Consultancy and Employment Law practice based in Little Island, Cork. We provide a wide range of HR and Employment Law services to employers, and we are currently looking for a Health & Safety professional to join our HR consultancy team and help us further develop the Health & Safety support we provide to our clients. This is a varied, client-facing role working with businesses across a broad range of sectors within Ireland (as well as international clients). The successful candidate will provide practical H&S advice, conduct risk assessments and audits, deliver and design training.
This role is part time and project led, generally 10 - 20 hours per week. We can offer considerable flexibility around working arrangements, although travel to client sites will be an important part of the position where required. This role would particularly suit someone working as a Health & Safety professional seeking a part time role alongside other professional, or personal commitments.

*This is a permanent role with a 6-month probationary period. The position is based in our Cork office and travel to client sites will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver manual handling risk assessments and instructor-led manual handling training to a variety of employees across our client base
- Design and deliver training on a range of H&S topics (e.g. fire safety, manual handling, DSE/ergonomics, risk assessment awareness, incident investigation)
- Prepare and review Safety Statements in line with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
- Conduct workplace risk assessments, safety audits and site audits/inspections
- Support clients with incident investigations, HSA reporting requirements, and corrective action plans
- Lead the creation of a suite of in person and online training courses to support clients manage their safety practices amongst their teams
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- QQI Level 6 Instructing Manual Handling or equivalent — or willingness to obtain this within an agreed period of starting
- National Certificate/Diploma (or equivalent QQI/OTHM Level 6+ occupational H&S qualification)
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in an H&S advisory, consultancy or operational H&S role
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to explain technical and legislative requirements in a clear, practical and commercially sensible way.
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites across Ireland
Desirable
- Experience delivering training to varied audiences and sectors
- Experience conducting accident/ incident investigations
- Experience developing training materials, e-learning or H&S resources.
