About the RoleThe Patient Dispatch Controller is responsible for coordinating and managing the safe and efficient movement of patients between healthcare facilities, homes, and hospitals. This role is essential in ensuring timely transport scheduling, effective communication, and high standards of patient care throughout all transfer operations. You will act as the central coordination point between healthcare providers, transport crews, and internal teams, ensuring all dispatch activities run smoothly and efficiently.Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient transport requests and allocate appropriate vehicles and staff
- Schedule and dispatch crews based on priority, urgency, and resource availability
- Act as the main point of contact for hospitals, clinics, and healthcare professionals
- Monitor live operations and respond to delays, incidents, or changes in scheduling
- Ensure all patient movements are carried out safely and in line with regulations
- Maintain accurate transport logs and patient transfer records
- Liaise with clinical staff to ensure appropriate care levels for each transfer
- Support continuous improvement of dispatch and transport processes
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and organisational policies
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in dispatch, logistics, or healthcare coordination
- Strong organisational and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and dispatch/CRM systems
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Ability to problem-solve and prioritise workload effectively
- Full driving licence (desirable)
