Kitchen Supervisor / Manager

About the Role
We are looking for a hands on Kitchen Supervisor / Manager to work as part of the production team while also taking responsibility for the day to day running of the kitchen.
You will work alongside the team during production while supervising staff, maintaining HACCP and hygiene standards, managing stock and ordering, training staff and making sure the kitchen runs smoothly each day.
This role would suit someone with strong kitchen experience who is comfortable leading a small team while remaining actively involved in daily food preparation and production.
Main Responsibilities
- Work directly alongside the production team during daily food preparation and production
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team
- Manage the day to day running of the kitchen
- Make sure production tasks are completed correctly and on time
- Recruit and onboard new kitchen staff when required
- Train staff and make sure procedures and standards are followed
- Manage staff performance and deal with staffing issues when required
- Prepare and manage weekly staff rosters
- Maintain high hygiene and cleanliness standards throughout the kitchen
- Make sure daily and weekly cleaning schedules are completed
- Maintain HACCP standards and complete all required food safety records
- Complete and monitor temperature checks and food safety documentation
- Manage stock levels and carry out regular stock counts
- Place supplier orders and make sure sufficient stock is available
- Monitor stock usage, food waste and portion control
- Make sure food is prepared consistently and according to procedures
- Maintain an organised kitchen, storage and preparation area
- Identify and deal with day to day kitchen issues
- Report significant staffing, stock or operational issues to senior management
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Supervisor, Kitchen Manager, Shift Manager, Team Leader or similar role
- Strong hands on experience working in a kitchen or food production environment
- Experience supervising and managing staff
- Good understanding of HACCP and food hygiene standards
- Experience with stock control and ordering
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Confidence training staff and dealing with performance issues
- Reliable and able to take responsibility for the kitchen
- Willing to work directly alongside the team rather than managing from the sidelines
- Flexible availability including evenings and weekends
