The Role
We are seeking a CSSD Technician to the join the CSSD Team. The CSSD Department is responsible for the provision of a decontamination service for reusable invasive medical devices to all clinical areas within the hospital and the role holder will ensure to provide continuous quality improvement and the management of changes necessary to achieve organisational objectives. The role holder is responsible for the provision of quality CSSD service in line with standards of CSSD practice. The main duties of the role are as follows
Strictly adheres to department operating policies and procedures at all times.
Collects and distributes contaminated/sterile items to customers.
Cleans and decontaminates instruments and medical devices using solutions and machines according to manufacturer's instructions and EU guidelines.
Inspects cleanliness, working action and condition of all items after decontamination process.
Checks product completion against pre-established checklists or product specification.
Sterilises items according to manufacturer's instructions and EU guidelines and HSE Code of Practice.
Handles sterile packages consistent with Event Related Sterility Policy.
Reports all non-functioning items or errors to Supervisor or Manager immediately.
Participates in regularly scheduled unit cleaning.
Participates in routine operation, maintenance and validation of equipment.
Demonstrates effective communication skills.

Requirements for the ideal candidate
Certificate/diploma/degree from Technical or Health Care related course
Leaving certificate or equivalent
Team work
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure
