About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Foreman to lead our site teams on a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising site operations, coordinating labour, plant and subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Site Management
- Supervise all daily site operations.
- Plan daily and weekly work activities.
- Allocate labour, plant and materials efficiently.
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings and specifications.
- Liaise with the Site Engineer regarding setting out requirements.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to achieve programme milestones.
Health & Safety
- Promote a positive safety culture on site.
- Ensure all works comply with company and client Health & Safety procedures.
- Monitor PPE compliance.
- Carry out site inspections and identify hazards.
- Report incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Ensure RAMS are followed at all times.
Quality
- Maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Ensure works comply with project specifications.
- Assist with inspections and quality checks.
- Coordinate remedial works where required.
- Support completion of quality documentation.
Programme & Productivity
- Monitor progress against programme.
- Identify delays and propose solutions.
- Ensure labour and plant are utilised efficiently.
- Minimise downtime.
- Assist with short-term planning.
Materials & Plant
- Order materials through company procedures.
- Monitor deliveries.
- Ensure materials are stored correctly.
- Manage plant utilisation.
- Report breakdowns promptly.
- Carry out basic plant inspections.
People Management
- Lead site operatives.
- Supervise subcontractors.
- Mentor apprentices and junior staff.
- Maintain high morale and productivity.
- Address performance issues professionally.
- Foster teamwork and communication.
Documentation
- Complete daily site diaries.
- Record deliveries and inspections.
- Support commercial reporting where required.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in civil engineering or construction.
- Previous experience as a Foreman or Site Supervisor.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of construction sequencing.
- Experience managing labour and subcontractors.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good problem-solving ability.
Desirable Experience
Experience in one or more of the following:
- Roads and infrastructure
- ESB utility works
- Water and wastewater projects
- Drainage
- Reinforced concrete structures
- Earthworks
- Kerbing and footpaths
- Ducting installations
- Public realm projects
- Deep excavations
- Temporary traffic management
Qualifications
Essential:
- Safe Pass
- Manual Handling
- Full Driving Licence
Desirable:
- CSCS Plant Tickets
- First Aid Responder
- Temporary Traffic Management Training
- LUGS (Location of Underground Services)
- Signing, Lighting & Guarding qualification
- Confined Space Training
- Lifting Supervisor / Appointed Person training
