Due to continued expansion, we are looking for a reliable and practical Maintenance General Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day maintenance, repair and upkeep of the farm, buildings, polytunnels, accommodation and general facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance and repair work across the farm.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of polytunnels and associated structures.
- Carry out basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and building maintenance.
- Repair and maintain doors, gates, fencing, fixtures and fittings.
- Assist with general electrical and mechanical maintenance where appropriately trained.
- Use hand tools, power tools and maintenance equipment safely.
- Carry out routine checks and report faults, damage or maintenance requirements.
- Assist with maintenance of farm buildings, staff accommodation and facilities.
- Complete general grounds and site maintenance.
- Keep maintenance areas, tools and equipment clean and organised.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and use PPE as required.
- Assist the wider maintenance team with other tasks as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in general maintenance, construction, farming or a similar practical role is desirable.
- Good practical and mechanical ability.
- Full B driving license.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to carry out basic repairs and identify maintenance issues.
- Reliable, hardworking and willing to take on a variety of tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to health and safety.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Full driving licence is desirable.
