Job: Cloud Data Security Engineer
Location: Dublin (2 days a week onsite min)
Type: Long term Contract (min 12 months)
Rate: 420-450 per day.
We are looking for a hands-on engineer, not an architect. Someone who builds, configures, and operates security controls day-to-day — not someone who mainly writes standards/frameworks and hands off implementation to others.
The MUST HAVES for this role are:
-
Hands-on production experience securing AWS, Azure, or GCP — IAM, network security, encryption, workload protection (actually configured these, not just reviewed)
-
Hands-on implementation of data protection controls in Microsoft Purview (or a close equivalent — e.g. Varonis, BigID)
-
Track record running control governance/remediation — i.e. has actually closed out non-compliance findings, not just reported them
-
Comfortable working directly with Data/Privacy/Legal/IT stakeholders on control implementation
Strong plus:
-
Data breadth beyond pure cloud security: data classification, rights management (DRM/IRM), data or AI security posture management (DSPM/AISPM). This is the gap the hiring manager is explicitly trying to fill — the previous person didn't have it.
-
Active interest/use of AI tools, and some grounding in AI data security (e.g. data exposure risks from AI tooling)
This role is not suited to:
-
Pure architects/strategists with no recent hands-on tooling work
-
Candidates whose "cloud security" experience is policy-writing only, with no IAM/encryption/workload config on their hands
-
Candidates with zero data governance exposure (classification, DLP, rights management) — this is the #1 screening filter right now
