Tom Smyth & Associates is an expanding HR Consultancy and Employment Law practice based in Little Island, Cork. We provide a wide range of HR and Employment Law services to employers, and we currently have an opportunity for an ambitious and passionate professional who wishes to develop a career in this field.
This is a unique opportunity to develop your knowledge and skill-set across multiple areas of HR. As part of our wider HR Consultancy Team, the role will initially focus on the preparation of relevant and statutorily compliant Contracts of Employment, Employee Handbooks and associated policies, procedures and documents for a diverse client base.
Managing these projects will be your primary responsibility initially. As part of our HR Consultancy Team, you will also support and contribute to wider HR projects, broadening your consultancy experience over time.

*This is a permanent role with a 6-month probationary period. The position is based in our Cork office and occasional travel to client sites will be required.
Duties & Responsibilities
On a phased basis, the successful candidate will be exposed to a full suite of HR Consultancy projects and will take responsibility in areas such as;
- Preparation of HR documents, including contracts of employment and handbooks.
- Managing an evolving library of HR templates to ensure they are relevant and updated.
- Researching and delivering updated documents and policies as legislation or workplace norms require.
- Maintaining HR databases and Information Systems, ensuring the highest levels of data protection, accuracy and integrity.
- Assisting on an array of HR queries and projects as part of the wider consultancy team when required.
- Researching and preparing communications, case-law reviews, articles, and social media posts.
- Supporting the development and marketing of online training services, employer supports and materials.
- Supporting the overall HR team by demonstrating flexibility in providing cover for team members.
- Being open and willing to take on new challenges as the services provided by the HR team continue to grow.
- Any other duties assigned.
Key Requirements & Attributes:
The ideal candidate will have;
- A genuine interest in HR, with a desire for ongoing learning and development in terms of employment legislation, HR trends and case law.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to efficiently and accurately manage a varied workload with multiple tasks.
- Excellent people skills and an ability to manage and support clients through a HR project.
- An ability to write detailed content in a clear and concise matter.
- Good general knowledge of Irish employment legislation.
- Positive and proactive approach, with demonstrable ability to work as part of a team and independently, using own initiative.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing appropriate to the situation.
- Flexibility to the needs of the business.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Full driving licence, use of car and willingness to travel anywhere in Ireland.
- This is primarily an office-based role. However the successful candidate may, on occasion, work remotely with agreement.
- A 3rd Level Qualification (or currently undertaking study) in HR is desirable
