School Bus Escort – Part-Time Position
Midleton CBS Primary School is seeking to appoint a caring, reliable and responsible School Bus Escort to support pupils attending our Autism Classes.
Hours of Work
- Morning route: Approximately 7:30am departure to collect pupils and accompany them safely to school.
- Afternoon route: Collection from school at 1:30pm to accompany pupils safely home.
- Routes involve collecting and dropping off children at various locations.
Start Date: Thursday, 27th August
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of pupils while travelling on the school bus.
- Assisting pupils to board and exit the bus safely.
- Supporting pupils during the journey in a calm, caring and reassuring manner.
- Maintaining appropriate communication with the bus driver, school staff and parents where required.
- Following all school and Department of Education transport procedures.

- Be able to remain calm and respond appropriately in different situations.
- Have an understanding of the needs of young children and a commitment to their safety and wellbeing.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous experience as a School Bus Escort, Special Needs Assistant (SNA), childcare practitioner or in a similar caring role.
- Experience supporting children with additional needs, including autism.
Full Garda Vetting will be required prior to appointment and will be arranged by the school.
