Role Title: Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
Location: Carrickmines, Dublin
Contract: Fixed-Term (18 months), Full-Time
A full-time, fixed term (18 months) vacancy has arisen for the role of Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in our Carrickmines. The successful candidate will work closely with the Developmental Paediatrics Service, providing specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and management for children and adolescents, with a primary focus on supporting the care of patients with mild to moderate ADHD. The postholder will contribute to a high-quality, patient-centred service and play an integral role within the wider paediatric multidisciplinary team (MDT).

What you will do:-
Provide ongoing management of children and adolescents attending the Paediatric ADHD Service.

Deliver high-quality, evidence-based clinical care from initial assessment through to diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up.

Work within the scope of practice, policies and clinical governance structures of the Paediatric Service.

Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical records, including assessments, treatment recommendations and outcomes.

Arrange and review appropriate investigations and ensure timely follow-up of patients where required.

Make appropriate referrals to internal and external services, ensuring clear communication and continuity of care.

Promote a holistic approach to care, recognising the child within the context of their family, school and wider social environment.

Advocate for children and young people, ensuring their welfare and best interests remain central to all clinical decision-making.

Provide families with evidence-based advice, education and support to promote positive health and wellbeing outcomes.

Maintain awareness of child development, mental health, safeguarding and child protection issues.

Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives and service development activities.

Contribute to accreditation and regulatory requirements relating to the Paediatric Service.

Support the efficient management and continuous improvement of clinical services within Vhi Health & Wellbeing.

Maintain professional competence and engage in continuing medical education in line with Medical Council and Royal College requirements.
What will you need to be successful:
Qualifications & Registration
Candidates must:

Be registered as a Specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland in the specialty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Be eligible to practise independently in Ireland.
Experience
Candidates should have:
- Significant clinical experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Experience working within a community or scheduled care setting.
- Experience delivering care within the Irish healthcare system, whether in public or private practice.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team in the assessment and management of child and adolescent mental health conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage acute presentations and provide appropriate immediate care where required.
- A commitment to maintaining up-to-date clinical knowledge and skills through Continuing Professional Development (CPD), in line with current guidelines and best practice.
