Job Purpose
The Senior Cyber Security Consultant will lead customer engagements across cyber advisory, governance, risk, assurance and operational resilience, with primary responsibility for customers and opportunities in the Republic of Ireland. The role covers the full engagement lifecycle, from discovery and scoping through to delivery and executive reporting, while supporting pre-sales, mentoring colleagues and helping develop the Viatel Cyber Consultancy practice.
Key Responsibilities
Lead customer engagements from discovery and scoping through assessment, delivery, reporting and executive presentation.
Deliver cyber strategy, governance, risk, compliance, assurance, maturity and operational resilience engagements.
Conduct risk and regulatory gap assessments and develop clear, prioritised improvement roadmaps
Facilitate workshops with boards, senior leaders, risk owners and technical or operational teams
Translate regulatory and industry requirements into practical, proportionate security improvements
Lead or support incident readiness, cyber exercises, business continuity, disaster recovery and third-party risk reviews.
Quality-assure consultancy deliverables and support proposals, tenders, statements of work and effort estimates.
Mentor consultants, develop reusable methodologies and work with Sales, SOC, Digital Services and Delivery teams.
Required Skills and Experience
Typically 8+ years of cyber security experience, including substantial customer-facing consultancy or advisory work.
Proven ability to lead engagements and build trusted relationships with executive and senior stakeholders.
Broad knowledge of cyber governance, risk, assurance, technical security and operational resilience
Practical experience applying ISO/IEC 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, NIS2 requirements
Experience delivering risk, maturity or gap assessments, policies, control frameworks and remediation roadmaps.
Excellent report writing, workshop facilitation and presentation skills, with strong commercial awareness.
Ability to manage and quality-assure multiple engagements while maintaining a pragmatic, outcome-focused approach.
Strong understanding of the Irish and EU cyber security regulatory landscape and the ability to translate regulatory obligations into practical customer improvements.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience of Irish NCSC guidance, Risk Management Measures and the Cyber Fundamentals Framework, or CyFun.
Experience supporting financial services organisations with DORA, Central Bank of Ireland expectations, ICT third-party risk, incident reporting or resilience testing.
Knowledge of the UK NIS Regulations and NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework would be advantageous for supporting customers operating across Ireland and the UK.
Working knowledge of related standards and obligations such as ISO/IEC 27002, ISO/IEC 27005, ISO 22301, GDPR, CER or PCI DSS.
Experience in regulated or critical sectors such as financial services, telecommunications, public sector, healthcare, energy, transport or digital infrastructure.
Experience in cloud security, security architecture, incident response, service development or thought leadership.
Certifications (Desirable)
CISSP, CISM, CRISC or CISA
ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor or Lead Implementer
Relevant project or programme management qualification
Additional Requirements
Applicants must have the right to work in the Republic of Ireland.
The role requires regular travel to the Dublin office and to customer locations across Ireland, with occasional travel elsewhere as required.
