Quality Controller – Walsh’s Bakehouse
Walsh’s Bakehouse is a third-generation family bakery based in Waterford, producing quality bakery products for customers across Ireland. We are committed to maintaining high standards of food safety, quality and hygiene throughout all areas of the business.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Carry out routine quality and food safety checks on raw materials, products and production processes.
- Monitor and verify CCPs and other food safety controls in accordance with HACCP procedures.
- Support traceability exercises and batch coding checks.
- Assist with investigations into customer complaints, non-conformances and quality issues.
- Carry out product sampling, environmental monitoring and other quality checks as required.
- Support internal audits and BRCGS requirements.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure procedures and specifications are followed.
- Promote a strong food safety and quality culture throughout the bakery.
- Adhere to all company food safety, hygiene, health and safety and GMP procedures.
- Carry out any other duties within the general scope of the role as required.
- Successful completion of traceability and verification exercises.
- Supporting BRCGS, HACCP and food safety standards throughout the bakery.
Key Skills & Knowledge
Essential:
- Previous experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance role within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP and food safety principles.
- Previous experience working within a BRCGS-certified environment.
- Good understanding of GMP, hygiene and food safety requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and report quality or food safety issues.
- Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
- Ability to accurately complete quality and food safety records.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with production teams.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and follow procedures.
- Good level of English, both written and spoken.
- HACCP or Food Safety qualification.
