The Role….Contract Specialist – REF: 2630
The Contract Specialist will be engaged from the early stages of the tender process through to project delivery, ensuring commercial risks are identified, understood, and effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will report to the PMO Lead.
The Contract Specialist will be responsible for the following:

Participate in the early stages of the tender process, supporting bid teams in reviewing contract terms and conditions

Identify and assess commercial risks, liabilities, and key clauses prior to submission
- Provide clear guidance on risk position, contract deviations, and commercial implications

Support Project Managers with ongoing contract interpretation and commercial decision-making
- Act as a trusted advisor during client meetings and commercial discussions where required
- Ensure contract obligations are clearly understood and applied throughout delivery
- Monitor compliance with contractual terms and highlight risks early

Support and guide Project Managers in variation and commercial change control processes
- Ensure robust commercial records are maintained to support entitlement

Work with Finance and Legal partners where required on complex contractual matters
- Promote strong contract awareness across the project management community
The location for this role is our Portlaoise office.
The Candidate - The ideal candidate will possess the following:

5–10 years’ experience in contract management or commercial roles

Third level qualification in Business, Law, Engineering or a related discipline

Strong understanding of contract structures, risk allocation, and commercial terms
-
Experience in engineering, construction, or professional services contracts
-
Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
-
Ability to provide clear, confident advice to Project Managers and stakeholders
-
Strong attention to detail and risk awareness
-
Familiarity with NEC suite of contracts specifically PSC, ECC and Public Works Contract of contract
- Experience managing claims, disputes, or variation processes

Professional procurement of contract management qualification desirable
