Freelance Senior Copywriter: B2B Brand Experience
The Role
Reverb Factory is an elite, fast-moving agency for B2B brands that refuse to be generic. We work across a portfolio of companies in complex, technical and operational categories—exactly the places where marketing has every excuse to become predictable. We don’t want safe category copy. We want distinct brands with a point of view.
We have the clients and the momentum. What we need is a heavy-hitting Senior Copywriter who can move between high-level brand strategy and day-to-day execution across multiple brands, audiences and voices. This is a writing role with a Creative Director’s mindset. You should see the whole idea—not just the copy—and know how to strengthen the story through words, visuals and the relationship between them. This isn’t a role for someone who needs a 20-page creative brief to get started. This is for the creative who can grab the highlights, understand the business, find the spark and run with it.
What You’ll Be Doing
● Concepting & Execution: Taking raw subject-matter expertise, technical offerings and operational details and turning them into high-impact brand narratives across social, email, web, content and advertising.
● Strategic Thinking: Ensuring every word serves a business goal. You aren’t just writing; you’re solving problems and architecting a new market leader.
● Creative Autonomy: You will be expected to "PM yourself." From initial concept to the final polished deliverable, you own the workflow and the timeline.
● Integrated Creative Direction: Treating writers and designers as one creative team, not a sequence of handoffs. You can spot where the copy, structure, imagery—or the relationship between them—is leaving something on the table, then give clear, constructive direction that makes the whole story stronger.
● Creative Direction for AI: Directing AI platforms like a creative partner: setting the context, strategy, voice and constraints; exploring and pressure-testing creative territories; and challenging generic output until the work is sharper, more distinctive and on-brand.
Who You Are
● An Entrepreneurial Creative: You thrive in startup environments. You don't wait for permission or a process—you create them. You’re here to build great things, not just "complete tasks."
● A Master of "The Human Voice": You write copy that people actually want to read. You know how to be
bold, direct, and punchy without relying on clichés or corporate jargon.
● A B2B Brand Builder: You have a proven track record across B2B brands. You know how to make complex products, services and systems clear, relevant and worth caring about without flattening every company into the same corporate voice.
● Self-Sufficient: You are a veteran of the freelance life. You know how to manage your own capacity and deliver "client-ready" work on the first pass.
● Comfortable with Chaos: Reverb Factory is growing fast. You aren’t bothered by shifting priorities or the absence of "traditional" agency layers or project management models.
● Full-Stack Execution: Experience writing across the entire funnel—from scroll-stopping social hooks to long-form landing pages and CRM flows.
● 10+ Years of High-Stakes Writing: You’ve been in the trenches at an agency or ambitious B2B company. You know how to move from a brand manifesto to a conversion-focused campaign without losing the voice.
● A Creative Director at Heart: You see the whole idea, not just your own discipline. You can identify opportunities in both words and visuals, articulate what the work needs, and give designers and AI platforms the direction they need to take it from competent to compelling. You remain fully accountable for the originality, accuracy and quality of the final work.
The Reality: AI-Centric, Human-Led
AI is part of our operating model. It is not a vending machine, and this is not a role for someone who hands AI a topic, accepts the first draft and becomes its copy editor. We need a writer who can creative-direct AI: establish the strategy, teach it the brand, shape the concept, challenge the output and know when the work is still not good enough.
Used well, AI should help you research faster, explore more territory, expose weak thinking, sharpen language, maintain brand consistency and catch issues earlier. It does not replace taste, originality, audience empathy, factual accuracy or the ability to make a brave decision. AI can expand what you are capable of. It does not carry the accountability—you do.
The Reality: High Ambition, Low Bureaucracy
Let’s be brutally honest: We aren’t a global holding company with bottomless overhead, "safe" budgets, or bloated corporate retainers. We are a lean, high-velocity strike team. If you’re looking for a comfortable pace and the inflated rates of a legacy firm, we aren’t the fit. We’re fair, but not inflated.
What we offer is a trade. We’ve removed the ‘bureaucracy tax’—the endless meetings, layers of approval and political friction—and replaced it with unfiltered creative ownership. You won’t just be a ‘resource’ on a spreadsheet; you’ll help shape the voices behind ambitious B2B brands. For the right person, the chance to
build distinctive brands in categories that rarely get this level of creative ambition is the real ROI.
The Long Game
● Creative Leadership: You may not have held the title, but you already operate with the judgment, clarity and generosity of a Creative Director. Experience directing designers or a broader creative team is a strong advantage, with significant opportunity to grow into formal oversight of the work and the team long-term.
● Team Integration: We are looking for more than just a one-off freelancer. This is an opportunity to work on additional strategic brands and eventually become a full-time, full-fledged member of the Reverb Factory team.
Why Reverb Factory?
You won’t find a Reverb Factory website or a polished Instagram feed. We don’t exist for the public; we exist for our clients. We operate in stealth mode because our work speaks for itself where it matters most—in the market. If you need a company handbook and a 'Meet the Team' page to feel secure, this isn't the right fit. If you want to be part of the reason we eventually do need a website, let's talk.
We’re a small, elite team doing big-agency work at startup speed. If you’re looking to get in on the ground floor, influence the direction of a growing agency, and skip the political layers of a massive firm, we want to talk.
How to Apply
We value your time, so skip the cover letter. Please answer these four questions:
1. The B2B Portfolio: Which B2B brands have you worked on, and what was your specific impact on their positioning, voice or market presence?
2. The Category Challenge: Give us an example of a complex, technical or seemingly ‘boring’ product or service you transformed into a compelling brand. What did you see that others were missing, and how did you shape or direct the words and visuals to make the idea stronger?
3. The Independent Operator: Tell us about a time you had to lead a project from concept to delivery with zero project management support or defined process.
4. The AI Partnership: Give us one example of how you used AI to improve the strategy, originality or quality of a piece of work—not simply make it faster. How did you direct the tool, and what did you change or reject before the work was ready?
P.S. We’re also looking for Designers. If you’re a visual lead or work with a partner who can match this level of ambition, pass this along. We’re building an elite creative team for the full portfolio.
