CICS SiloClean Ltd. is a family-owned industrial services company established in 1973. We provide industrial cleaning, silo cleaning, confined-space, rope-access and commercial cleaning services to clients throughout Ireland.
We hold Safecontractor, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification.
We are recruiting a Junior Health & Safety Officer to support health and safety across our operations. This position would suit a recent health and safety graduate or someone in the early stages of their career.
You will work with company management, supervisors and our external health and safety adviser. Training and guidance will be provided as you develop within the role.
Main responsibilities
Under the guidance of management and our external health and safety adviser, you will:
- Assist with preparing and updating risk assessments and method statements.
- Attend client sites to support safety inspections and compliance checks.
- Assist with company, site and task-specific safety inductions.
- Prepare toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Support safety briefings relating to confined spaces, rope access and working at height.
- Monitor working practices and report safety concerns to management.
- Assist with maintaining the company Safety Statement, policies and procedures.
- Maintain employee training records and the company training matrix.
- Support accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
- Monitor equipment inspection records, GA3 records and other safety documentation.
- Assist with preparing and updating standard operating procedures.
- Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits.
- Assist with SafeContractor compliance and client prequalification requirements.
- Work with managers, supervisors, employees, clients and external advisers.
- Keep up to date with Irish health and safety legislation and guidance.
- Complete other reasonable health and safety duties appropriate to a junior position.
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- A QQI Level 7 qualification, or equivalent recognised qualification, in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, Environmental Health and Safety or a closely related discipline.
- A basic understanding of workplace risk assessments and safety procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence speaking with employees, supervisors and clients.
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Competence using Microsoft Word, Excel and digital reporting systems.
- A full, clean driving licence valid in Ireland.
- The right to work in Ireland.
Experience
Previous experience is helpful but not essential.
Experience gained through a college placement, internship or employment will be considered. Experience in any of the following areas would be useful:
- Manufacturing
- Industrial services
- Food production
- Facilities management
- Construction or engineering
- Commercial or industrial cleaning
- Warehousing or logistics
Training in manual handling instruction, working at height, confined spaces, incident investigation or ISO management systems would be an advantage.
Working arrangements
This is a practical position and is not solely office-based.
The successful applicant will be based at our Ballinagh office and will travel to client sites as required. Some early starts may be required to attend operational safety checks.
Authorised business travel costs will be covered. A company vehicle may be provided depending on the travel requirements of the position.
