The O'Reilly Theatre is a vibrant 500-seat venue located within Belvedere College SJ in the heart of Dublin City Centre. Our programme includes theatre, music, comedy, dance, conferences, corporate events and commercial hires, providing an exciting and varied working environment throughout the year.
We're looking for a skilled, enthusiastic and customer-focused Part-Time Theatre Technician to join our technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with theatre experience who enjoys working with a wide variety of productions and clients while developing their technical skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role
As Theatre Technician, you will work closely with visiting production companies, performers, clients and the venue management team to deliver professional technical support for every event.
You'll play a key role in ensuring that performances and events run safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standard.
Working hours are dependent on the theatre's programme and will include evenings and weekends. We understand that flexibility works both ways and aim to offer a supportive working environment that recognises the needs of both the venue and our staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for performances, rehearsals, conferences and events.
- Operate and maintain theatre lighting, sound and stage equipment.
- Support visiting companies with get-ins, fit-ups, performances and get-outs.
- Act as the primary technical contact for visiting clients during their hire.
- Ensure all technical work is carried out safely and in accordance with current Health & Safety legislation and venue procedures.
- Assist with routine maintenance, testing and upkeep of technical equipment.
- Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and efficiently.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and visiting production teams to deliver successful events.
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a professional, welcoming approach at all times.
Essential Skills & Experience
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience working in a theatre or live events venue.
- Excellent understanding of theatre technical requirements and live event production.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Intermediate lighting skills, including experience operating ETC lighting consoles.
- Working knowledge of theatre sound systems and live audio operation.
- Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence working directly with clients and production teams.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- A flexible approach to working hours.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Experience with stage management or counterweight fly systems.
- Knowledge of video projection systems.
- IPAF, Manual Handling or Working at Height certification.
- First Aid qualification.
