Production Technician
Location: Tinahely, Co. Wicklow
Shift-based role (Monday–Friday)
Automatic Plastics Ltd (APL), a PCI Company, is a leading manufacturer of high-quality plastic components for the medical and pharmaceutical sectors. Due to continued growth, we are now seeking a Production Technician to join our manufacturing team in Tinahely.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build technical skills in a regulated production environment while working as part of a supportive, safety-focused team.
The Role
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Production Technician will support day-to-day manufacturing operations by operating injection moulding and packaging equipment, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to continuous improvement across the site.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating injection moulding machines and auxiliary equipment to meet production and quality targets
- Assisting with mould setup, machine start-ups, and process validation (full training provided)
- Monitoring processes and making basic adjustments within validated parameters
- Performing in-process inspections and accurately completing production and quality documentation
- Supporting troubleshooting of basic equipment or process issues
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work area and reporting any unsafe conditions or near misses
- Adhering to all Health & Safety, Quality, GMP, and PPE requirements
- Completing paperwork in line with ISO 13485 and cGMP standards
- Supporting production teams during breaks/absences and providing cover for the Shift Supervisor when required
- Participating in Lean, continuous improvement, ESG, and Environmental Management System activities (ISO 14001)
- Working collaboratively across departments to help deliver company goals
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Leaving Certificate (or equivalent)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn technical processes and follow structured procedures
- A proactive mindset with an interest in continuous improvement
Desirable:
- Previous manufacturing or production experience
- Familiarity with Lean principles (training can be provided)
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, rotating shifts - 8:00am – 4:00pm/4:00pm – 12:00am/12:00am – 8:00am
(Shift pattern will be discussed during the recruitment process.)
