Position: Quality Manager
Location: Kinsale Road Cork
The Role
The Quality Manager will lead the site Quality Assurance function and be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving food safety, quality and technical standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Production, Sales, Innovation and wider management teams to ensure that products, processes and systems consistently meet legal, customer and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead, organise and develop the site Quality Assurance team, ensuring it is appropriately resourced, trained and supported to achieve site and departmental objectives.
· Promote and actively support a strong and positive food safety and quality culture across the site.
· Maintain, improve and develop the site’s food safety, quality and technical management systems.
· Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable Irish and European Union food legislation, customer requirements and recognised industry standards.
· Lead the implementation and maintenance of technical and quality standards across the site.
· Manage the site internal audit programme and ensure that corrective and preventive actions are completed effectively and within agreed timescales.
· Lead the quality and technical function during customer audits, certification audits, regulatory inspections and technical visits.
· Work closely with Production, Sales and Innovation teams to ensure that new and existing products meet food safety, quality, legal and customer requirements.
· Support the management and approval of suppliers, raw materials and associated supplier compliance requirements.
· Monitor relevant regulatory developments, industry trends and emerging food safety risks, ensuring that the business remains informed and prepared.
· Review quality and food safety performance, identify improvement opportunities and implement effective action plans.
· Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints and quality incidents, ensuring that appropriate root-cause analysis and corrective actions are completed.
· Identify innovative and practical ways to improve site performance, strengthen systems and motivate the Quality Assurance team.
· Provide clear technical advice and guidance to site management and operational teams.
Experience Required
· A qualification in food science, microbiology, quality management or another relevant scientific or food-related discipline or relevant industry experience.
· Significant experience in a senior quality or technical role within food manufacturing, preferably within the seafood sector.
· Proven experience leading and developing a Quality Assurance or technical team.
· Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, food safety management systems and quality assurance principles.
· Experience working within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
· Strong knowledge of HACCP, food legislation, risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
· HACCP certification, with demonstrated experience developing, reviewing and maintaining HACCP systems.
· Knowledge of IFS Food and organic certification standards.
· Experience leading customer, regulatory and certification audits.
· Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving and organisational skills.
· The ability to work collaboratively across departments and influence colleagues at all levels of the business.
