Applications are invited for the position of Day and Night Porter (Operational Support) in the Portering Department.
1 year fixed term - 39hr week over 7 days.
Essential Criteria
Obtained a good standard of education.
The ability to work with a team in the delivery of quality care to patients.
The ability to work on own initiative
Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with management, consultant staff, staff, patients and visitors to the Hospital.
Fluency in the English language is a requirement for the post.
IT competent with basic PC skills
Minimum of 1 year hospital experience (or similar in a customer facing role)
Flexibility and can do attitude
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performing general portering duties including, but not limited to:
- Available to work day or night shifts as required
Transporting patients throughout the hospital campus, as specified in the hospital policy
Transporting specimens, medicines and portable gases as outlined in the job specification and hospital policies.
Maintaining regular communications and passover with the Portering Officer / Portering Supervisors & colleagues
Reporting any health and safety issues to the Portering Officer or relevant department
Complying with all statutory legislation and department policies and procedures
In order to provide effective and efficient services it is expected that the successful candidate be flexible in terms of hours & days of work
As a member of the facilities team you will be required to assist in other departments and your role may vary. Full training will be provided
Remuneration is in accordance with the salary scale approved by the Department of Health & Children.
