Details of Service
Leopardstown Park Hospital is a registered centre for the provision of services to older people, it provides Respite, Rehabilitation, Day services and Long-Term Care, situated in South Co. Dublin. It was established in 1917 and continues to provide services interdisciplinary services on a seven-day, twenty-four-hour basis. It is currently registered for 120 long stay beds and 30 day centre places.
The post holder is responsible for the day-to-day management of catering operations within Leopardstown Park Hospital.
To provide a safe, efficient meal/food distribution service.
To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the catering services including Unit sub kitchens.
To supervise assigned staff.
To provide catering input with the Catering/Manager to the Interdisciplinary teams.
To develop and maintain a catering service.
To oversee and develop safe food practices, HACCP etc.post holder is responsible for ensuring the areas of assignment are maintained to the highest possible standard of hygiene and cleanliness required by the hospital and in accordance with statutory requirements. Catering Assistants are mobile within the department. They are based at ward level, staff restaurant and kitchen. Hours may differ depending on the area where working. Must be able to work on own initiative also.
The post holder is accountable to the Catering Manager or other designated officer
Liaison / Communication: The proper performance of these duties will require a high degree of liaison and communication with D.O.N./P.I.C., Managers and Staff throughout the hospital in the course of their normal duties and responsibilities
Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications and/ or experience
Diploma/Certificate in Supervisory Management or institutional management granted by a recognised agency . The course should not be less than two years duration
Have a minimum of two years experience in a supervisory role in a food industry environment / hospital setting
Hold a recognised HACCP/Food Safety qualification.
Possess a high standard of administrative, managerial or business ability.
Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including high standards of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
Demonstrate dept and breadth of experience in Food Service Services, as relevant to the post.
A track record of building and maintaining positive and effective working relationships
