The Galmont Hotel & Spa, one of Ireland's leading four-star hotels and a flagship property within the MHL Hotel Collection, is seeking an ambitious and experienced Deputy General Manager to join our leadership team.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the strategic and operational leadership of our 275-bedroom hotel. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven hospitality professional to contribute to the continued success of a market-leading property while developing their career within one of Ireland's fastest-growing hotel groups.
As Deputy General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the hotel, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, driving financial performance, and leading a high-performing team culture across all departments.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Support and act on behalf of the General Manager in the overall management of the hotel.
- Lead, mentor and support Heads of Department to achieve operational excellence.
- Ensure the highest standards of guest service, product quality and presentation throughout the property.
- Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and enhance operational efficiencies across all departments.
- Champion service excellence and guest satisfaction, ensuring swift resolution of any guest concerns.
People Leadership
- Inspire, motivate and develop teams to achieve both individual and business goals.
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that reflects the values of the MHL Hotel Collection.
- Lead succession planning, talent development and employee engagement initiatives.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and retention strategies to attract and retain exceptional talent.
- Promote a culture of learning and continuous professional development.
Commercial & Financial Management
- Support the delivery of budgeted revenue, profitability and cost control targets.
- Analyse financial performance, including departmental and hotel-wide Profit & Loss reports.
- Identify opportunities to maximise revenue and improve operational efficiencies.
- Work closely with departmental leaders to achieve commercial objectives and KPI targets.
- Support the implementation of strategic business plans and revenue-driving initiatives.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Food Safety and all relevant legislative requirements.
- Maintain brand standards and operational procedures across all areas of the hotel.
- Support audits, inspections and quality assurance programmes.
- Champion sustainability and responsible business practices where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a passionate hospitality leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3-4 years' experience in a Deputy General Manager, Operations Manager or similar senior leadership role within a large hotel environment.
- Strong operational knowledge across all hotel departments, with particular strength in Food & Beverage operations.
- Proven track record in leading, developing and motivating high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience analysing financial reports and managing budgets.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across all levels of the business.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- A hands-on leadership style with a passion for hospitality excellence.
Desirable
- Experience within a large conference, events or city-centre hotel environment.
- Third-level qualification in Hospitality Management, Business or a related field.
- Experience implementing employee engagement and culture initiatives.
