About the Opportunity
A leading Tier 1 Contractor is seeking an experienced
Project Planner to join its Dublin-based project delivery team, initially supporting the successful delivery of a major
Hyperscale Data Centre.
Working within the MEP Project Team, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring integrated
Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) project programmes, ensuring all engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover activities are effectively planned and delivered in line with project milestones.
Working closely with the Project Director, MEP Project Managers, Construction Managers, Commissioning Managers, Commercial Teams, Procurement, Engineering, and Client Representatives, you will provide programme certainty and critical project controls across one of Ireland's most prestigious mission-critical developments.
The Role - Project Planner
As
Project Planner, you will be responsible for developing and managing detailed project programmes across all
Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) disciplines, supporting project teams with programme controls, progress analysis, forecasting, and schedule optimisation to ensure successful project delivery.
Project Planner Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and manage integrated Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) project programmes using Primavera P6, incorporating engineering, procurement, equipment manufacturing, off-site fabrication, construction, OFCI deliveries, commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), energisation, and client handover, ensuring programme certainty across the full project lifecycle.
- Work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, OFCI, Commissioning, Commercial, Procurement, BIM, QA/QC, Construction, and Client Teams to monitor project progress, coordinate construction sequencing, manage engineering interfaces, identify programme risks and critical path activities, and implement recovery strategies to maintain key project milestones.
- Produce detailed planning deliverables including baseline programmes, progress updates, S-Curves, earned value analysis (EVM), KPI dashboards, look-ahead schedules, resource histograms, delay analysis, change impact assessments, commissioning programmes, recovery schedules, and executive reporting, providing accurate programme intelligence to support operational and commercial decision-making.
- Support the planning and coordination of major Mechanical & Electrical Building Services packages, including HVAC, chilled water systems, pipework, clean utilities, MV/LV electrical infrastructure, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, busbar, BMS/EPMS, ICT infrastructure, and critical plant, ensuring alignment between procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and client acceptance.
- Participate in project planning meetings, commissioning workshops, supply chain reviews, and programme coordination sessions while supporting tender planning, logistics planning, resource forecasting, productivity analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with client planning requirements and company project controls procedures.
Necessary Requirements of the Project Planner
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, with 3+ years' experience as a Project Planner, MEP Planner, Planning Engineer, Project Controls Engineer, or Construction Planner within Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Industrial, Semiconductor, or Mission-Critical Construction environments.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining integrated Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) construction programmes, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, OFCI coordination, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), project controls, earned value management, delay analysis, and programme recovery on large-scale engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of Mechanical & Electrical Building Services, MEP Construction, Project Controls, Construction Sequencing, Procurement Planning, Commissioning Planning, Critical Path Analysis, Earned Value Management (EVM), Risk Management, Change Management, and Programme Reporting, with experience supporting multidisciplinary project teams delivering technically complex infrastructure projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 is essential, with experience using Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Primavera Analytics, Asta Powerproject, or other planning and project controls software considered advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate programme performance and recovery strategies to project teams, senior management, and clients.
