The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, servicing, repair, and upkeep of plant machinery and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. The role involves preventative maintenance activities, fault finding, replacement of wear components, lubrication of machinery, and carrying out minor electrical, hydraulic, and fabrication repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.
- Perform lubrication and servicing of machinery in accordance with maintenance schedules.
- Inspect equipment and identify worn, damaged, or defective parts requiring replacement.
- Replace bearings, belts, chains, seals, rollers, blades, and other wear components.
- Assist with fault diagnosis and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Carry out light electrical work, including sensor replacement, wiring repairs, and electrical component changes.
- Carry out light hydraulic maintenance, including hose, fitting, and seal replacement.
- Perform basic welding and fabrication repairs where required.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimise downtime through efficient repairs.
- Maintain maintenance records and report completed work.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop and work area.
- Liaise with operations staff to plan maintenance activities with minimal disruption to production.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in mechanical maintenance of industrial machinery or equipment.
- Good understanding of preventative maintenance practices.
- Ability to identify and replace worn mechanical components.
- Knowledge of basic electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Competent in the use of workshop tools and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions and maintenance schedules.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Mechanical fitting qualification or relevant trade background.
- Electrical or hydraulic maintenance certification.
- Forklift, MEWP, or relevant equipment licences.
- Experience working in recycling, manufacturing, processing, or industrial environments.

Working Hours
- Full-time position.
- Additional hours and call-outs may be required to support operational requirements and equipment breakdowns.
