Job Description
In a nutshell:
As an IT Solutions Leader, you will drive the digital and IT agenda for IT Business Applications (at Eurofins called IT Solutions) across the Clinical Diagnostics business line in Ireland and the United Kingdom. You will shape how technology supports long‑term business growth, operational efficiency, and innovation. This high‑impact international leadership role requires a strong business mindset, the ability to interact with senior stakeholders, and a pragmatic understanding of how technology creates value.
This position is central to supporting Eurofins’ strategic transition toward IT centralisation. As an IT Leader, you will ensure that the Clinical Diagnostics division aligns with Group‑wide standards, reduces local development, and fully adopts shared platforms and governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you and your team are the first point of contact for the business for any issues or demands related to IT Solutions in Clinical Diagnostics Ireland and the United Kingdom. You will also act as the interface to Group IT Solutions, which deliver the main IT services for your business, such as LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), CRM, Finance & Accounting, etc.
You will need to arbitrate and determine, together with Group IT Solutions, which IT applications should remain regional (e.g., for integration with local healthcare providers) and which should be provided centrally. Identifying and agreeing on IT requirements is a key part of this process.
In your daily work, you will support and operate the regional IT Solutions. You will regularly monitor costs and define the annual budget for the following year.
Your IT applications will run both on‑premise and in the cloud. You will evaluate which option is the best fit for each application and determine whether it should run in the cloud or on‑premise.
Efficiency, effectiveness, and stability will be the keys to your success. Finding the optimal solution for your business will be your challenge.
Strategy & Business Alignment
Define and communicate the IT vision and roadmap aligned with regional and global business and IT strategy.
Facilitate an efficient IT application landscape using Group IT Solutions and regional IT Solutions to support growth targets and increase profitability.
Act as a strategic liaison between regional business units and Group IT, ensuring mutual understanding, alignment, and smooth adoption of centralised solutions.
Maintain an outward‑looking approach, proactively scouting emerging technologies and assessing digital trends to modernise the Clinical Diagnostics IT landscape.
Benchmark with other Eurofins business lines to leverage best practices, avoid duplication, and accelerate IT maturity across Clinical Diagnostics.
Development, Delivery, Operations & Governance
Lead the regional IT Solutions organisation, including development, delivery, and support & operations.
Improve alignment and maturity across local businesses by developing a regional coordination model, ensuring that key roles are embedded in the broader IT strategy and delivery ecosystem.
Oversee major transformation programmes, including lab automation and lab IT standardisation, ensuring value realisation and stakeholder engagement.
Govern IT investments, ensuring the portfolio delivers ROI and mitigates risk.
Own the regional IT budget: define, control, and optimise costs while ensuring value for money and supporting key business priorities.
Ensure strong collaboration with global IT, Group governance, and external technology partners.
Ensure that local IT solutions are phased out in favour of standardised Group IT Solutions.
Promote reuse and integration over custom development.
Cost Ownership
Define the annual budget for the regional IT Solutions and the cost of integrating Group IT Solutions.
Monitor cost compliance throughout the year and react to any deviations.
Cost types include personnel costs, licence costs, and IT infrastructure costs for IT Solutions.
People, Culture & Change
Foster a culture of joint ownership between IT and the business. Ensure that solutions are fully embedded, adopted, and deliver business value across all levels.
Champion change management, digital literacy, and innovation across the business.
Foster a high‑performance IT culture through talent development, coaching, and cross‑functional leadership.
Ensure that accountabilities and responsibilities within your team are clear and communicated to all stakeholders.
Performance Evaluation Criteria
Business Value Realisation: measurable contribution of IT initiatives to revenue growth, cost savings, and operational efficiency.
Programme & Operations Excellence: percentage of major programmes delivered on time/in budget/scope, combined with uptime and SLA performance.
Strategic Alignment & Innovation: alignment of the IT roadmap with business strategy and adoption of emerging technologies.
Stakeholder & Customer Satisfaction: satisfaction scores from business leaders, global IT, and external partners.
People & Culture Leadership: employee engagement, adoption of change initiatives, and success in developing and retaining top IT talent.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration or a related field.
Proven experience (10+ years) in IT leadership roles within a non‑tech company.
Proven experience as an IT project manager using PRINCE2, PMI, or similar methodologies.
Solid understanding of enterprise systems (e.g., LIMS, CRM, accounting systems) and the business value they enable.
Cross‑functional leadership experience, ideally in regulated or process‑heavy industries.
Proficiency in English is required.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
Strategic Thinking: ability to define long‑term vision and translate it into actionable plans.
Leadership & Influence: experience leading diverse teams and influencing executive stakeholders.
Business Acumen: deep understanding of how IT creates business value in a non‑tech environment.
Cloud Competency: experience in cloud transformation and running IT applications in Azure or AWS in an enterprise‑scale setup.
Project Management: successful delivery of multiple IT projects.
Communication: excellent communication and storytelling skills across all organisational levels.
Change Leadership: experience leading business transformation and digital change programmes.
