Context:
SYSTRA is looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Manager to join our growing rail team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary transport and infrastructure projects for some of the most important rail and public transport clients across Ireland.
This leadership role will be based in our city centre office locations in Dublin or Cork.
Missions/Main Duties:
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead, direct, and coordinate multi-disciplinary technical teams in the successful delivery of rail projects. You will play a central role in resolving complex technical challenges, managing engineering interfaces, and ensuring that project outputs meet client expectations, regulatory requirements, and SYSTRA’s standards of technical excellence and safety assurance.
You will build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, supporting the successful delivery of proposal and project outcomes across the full project lifecycle, while acting as a trusted technical lead.
Working closely with relevant stakeholders and delivery partners you will help ensure the effective technical delivery of rail schemes though all phases of the project lifecycle.
You will play a key role in developing a team through mentoring and guidance.
Profile/Skills:
Candidates will have a track record of successfully delivering multi-disciplinary projects as an Engineering Manager, or as an Assistant Engineering Manager / Design Manager, including:
- Knowledge of local design standards and the regulatory environment

A degree in engineering or a recognised engineering qualification
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with Engineers Ireland or equivalent recognised professional body.

Proven experience in managing complex infrastructure projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams within the rail industry
- Experience of mentoring and developing staff

Experience in technical engineering leadership
- Experience of Employer Designed and Design & Build scheme delivery

A strong understanding of PSDP and other health and safety regulations e.g. Irish Construction Regs, and the application of “safe by design” techniques;
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.

Experience working across both GCCC and NEC forms of contract is desirable
