About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and commercially minded Retail Sales & Operations Executive to join our team in ischool Castlblayney.
This is a varied, hands-on role within a busy retail environment selling stationery, IT equipment, printers, office furniture and related business products. The role will involve much more than serving customers — you will play an important part in managing customer accounts, stock, merchandising, sales, day-to-day shop operations and improving how we work.
Our retail operation is closely connected with a wholesale department and a separate IT-focused retail location, so the successful candidate will need to be comfortable multitasking, communicating across different areas of the business and taking initiative when opportunities or issues arise.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Customer Service
· Provide friendly, knowledgeable and professional service to retail and business customers.
· Identify customer needs and recommend suitable stationery, IT equipment, printers, office furniture and related products.
· Take ownership of sales opportunities and demonstrate initiative in generating additional sales.
· Develop strong relationships with customers and support ongoing customer accounts.
· Process quotations, orders, invoices and customer account requirements accurately.
· Handle customer queries and resolve issues professionally.
· Follow up on enquiries, quotations and outstanding opportunities where appropriate.
Stock & Inventory Management
· Assist with receiving, checking and processing incoming stock.
· Maintain accurate stock levels and product information.
· Monitor stock availability and identify slow-moving, low-stock or high-demand products.
· Assist with stock counts and stock investigations.
· Work closely with the wholesale department to coordinate stock availability and transfers.
· Ensure the shop is well stocked, organised and presented.
Merchandising & Shop Presentation
· Maintain attractive, organised and commercially effective product displays.
· Merchandise products to encourage sales and maximise available space.
· Ensure pricing, promotional material and product information are accurate and clearly displayed.
· Regularly review displays and suggest improvements based on customer demand and sales opportunities.
· Maintain a clean, professional and welcoming retail environment.
Working Across the Business
· Work closely with colleagues in the wholesale department and our other IT retail location.
· Communicate effectively regarding stock, customer requirements, orders and operational issues.
· Be flexible and willing to assist in different areas of the business when required.
· Adapt quickly to changing priorities in a busy retail environment.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
· Customer-focused with a genuine interest in helping customers find the right solution.
· Sales-minded, with the confidence and initiative to identify opportunities rather than simply process transactions.
· Computer literate, comfortable using computers, email, Microsoft Office and business systems.
· A quick learner who is willing to learn about new products, systems and processes.
· Organised and methodical, with good attention to detail.
· Comfortable multitasking and prioritising in a busy environment.
· Proactive and willing to take responsibility.
· Interested in process improvement, efficiency and lean working practices.
· Confident communicating with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
· Practical and commercially aware.
· Flexible and willing to help wherever needed.
· A team player who is also capable of working independently.
Experience
Previous experience in retail, sales, office supplies, IT, stock management or customer account management would be advantageous.
However, we are also interested in candidates who demonstrate the right attitude, computer skills, commercial awareness and willingness to learn.
Product knowledge can be taught — enthusiasm, initiative and a desire to improve the way we work are equally important to us.
The Right Person
This role would suit someone who enjoys variety and does not want to do the same task every day.
You might be serving a customer in the morning, arranging a printer order, checking stock, updating a customer account, merchandising a display, helping the wholesale team and then identifying a way to make one of those processes faster or easier.
If you are someone who naturally thinks "there must be a better way of doing this", enjoys learning and wants to make a genuine contribution to a growing business, this could be an excellent opportunity.
Working Hours
This is a full-time position within a retail operation that is open 6 days per week.
The successful candidate will be required to work a minimum of 2 Saturdays per month, with the exact working schedule agreed as part of the role.
Retail Opening hours 9:00AM to 6:00PM, Monday to Friday. 9:00AM to 5:00PM
