Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, person-centred care to residents in accordance with their individual care plans.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support residents with mobility, including safe use of walking aids, hoists, and wheelchairs where required.
- Assist with feeding and ensure residents receive adequate nutrition and hydration, respecting dietary requirements and preferences.
- Monitor and report any changes in residents’ physical, emotional, or behavioural condition to the Nurse in Charge.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided in line with facility policies.
- Promote residents’ dignity, independence, privacy, and choice at all times.
- Support residents in participating in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment in residents’ rooms and communal areas.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures, including hand hygiene and PPE guidelines.
- Follow all Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, healthcare teams, and other staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, following established protocols and reporting incidents as required.
- Respect confidentiality and comply with GDPR and data protection requirements at all times.
- Participate in mandatory training, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
Essential Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within a healthcare or residential care setting.
- Possess a compassionate, empathetic, and trustworthy disposition, with a strong commitment to providing high-quality care and support to others.
- A minimum QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support, or higher, is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Working knowledge and understanding of HIQA standards and regulatory requirements within residential care services.
- Must hold valid eligibility to work in Ireland.
