About Us
The M & M Club is a brand-new, premium afterschool club rooted in the heart of Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where primary school children can decompress, explore creative play, and build confidence after the school day.
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and caring Afterschool Club Assistants to join our founding team.
Working hours Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 9am, and 1:30pm to 7pm. This is a term times position for the 38 weeks of the school term.
Role Overview
As an Afterschool Assistant, you will be a vital part of daily operations, ensuring that every child experiences a warm, structured, and fun environment. You will support the children through their afternoon routine—ranging from snack time and quiet homework/reading periods to arts, crafts, and indoor/outdoor games.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Childcare & Supervision:
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and active supervision of all primary school-aged children in indoor and outdoor play areas at all times.
- Foster an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere where every child feels valued, safe, and encouraged.
- Assist children during transition times (e.g., arrival from school, snack time, and departure).
Activities & Engagement:
- Help plan and facilitate fun, age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, team games, and recreational play.
- Encourage children’s creativity, social skills, and independent learning.
Operational Support:
- Assist with light snack preparation, distribution, and clean-up.
- Help maintain a clean, organised, and inviting club environment, ensuring all equipment and materials are stored safely.
- Work collaboratively with the management team to ensure all club policies, procedures, and health & safety standards are strictly followed.
Parent & Team Communication:
- Build positive, professional, and friendly relationships with parents and guardians during daily drop-offs and pick-ups.
- Communicate effectively with the wider team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: No previous childcare experience is necessary
- Qualifications: No formal qualifications are required. Your natural energy, enthusiasm, and a warm personality are what matter most to us.
- Core Traits: A genuine passion for working with children, high levels of patience, reliability, and trustworthiness.
- Team Player: Able to work well independently as well as collaboratively within a small, friendly team.
